Latvian National Museum of Art
The Latvian National Museum of Art is Latvia’s leading art institution and the country’s largest repository of professional art. Its main building was the first in the Baltics designed specifically as an art museum, while Art Museum RIGA BOURSE is an important centre for international cultural exchange.
For two major exhibitions across these Riga venues, the museum selected 3 mm Artglass Lifetime Acrylic to protect and present a diverse range of works from its collections.
Embodied Thought is the first exhibition of its scale in Latvia devoted entirely to drawing. Featuring more than 300 works by 97 artists, it traces the development and diversity of the medium from the 18th to the 21st century.
At Art Museum RIGA BOURSE, Cornucopia explores the museum’s collection through works that have remained in storage for decades or, in some cases, have never previously been exhibited. The exhibition brings together painting, graphic art, sculpture, decorative arts, and numismatics while examining the changing role of the museum itself.
The variety and sensitivity of the displayed works required glazing that could provide a high level of protection while preserving fine lines, textures, colours, and tonal variations.
Artglass Lifetime Acrylic was chosen for its ability to:
Deliver exceptional anti-reflective clarity for detailed works.
Provide 99% UV protection for light-sensitive artworks.
Offer lightweight and shatter-resistant protection for safer handling and installation.
Provide a durable, hard-coated surface suitable for long-term museum use.
The optical clarity of Artglass Lifetime Acrylic allows visitors to observe the techniques and material qualities of the artworks without distracting reflections. Its lightweight and shatter-resistant construction also supports safer installation and display, particularly when working with valuable and historically significant pieces from the museum’s collection.
Across both exhibitions, the glazing creates a consistent presentation standard while responding to the conservation and practical requirements of artworks from different periods, formats, and artistic traditions.
