Rekindled Memories: Bringing Atmospheric Monotypes into Clear View
Rekindled Memories at Pātaka Art + Museum in New Zealand presents a series of monotype prints by award-winning printmaker and painter Hamish Macaulay. The exhibition explores imagined environments shaped by personal experiences and memories of the Aotearoa landscape. Each work is a unique acrylic monotype on fine art paper, with subtle colour transitions, layered textures, and atmospheric landscape forms playing a central role in the viewing experience.
For the exhibition, the artworks were framed with Artglass AR 92 in collaboration with Glasslines. As the works rely on delicate tonal details and surface textures, the glazing needed to minimise reflections while helping protect the paper-based artworks from UV exposure.
Artglass AR 92 was chosen for its ability to:
Reduce reflections for a clearer view of the artworks.
Preserve the visibility of subtle colours, textures, and contrasts.
Provide 92% UV protection to help protect works on paper.
Create a refined presentation without distracting from the artist’s imagery.
The anti-reflective glazing allows visitors to engage more directly with Macaulay’s atmospheric compositions, supporting the exhibition’s intention to evoke individual memories and personal connections with the landscape.
This project demonstrates how Artglass AR 92 can support the presentation of contemporary prints and other works on paper by combining visual clarity, UV protection, and a professional gallery finish.
