Artglass™ supports exhibition „A Sense of Place” – contemporary Latvian photography

From 17 October until 10 November the exhibition A Sense of Place is opened for public at Exhibition Hall 1A in Frankfurt, Germany as the part of the European cultural days 2013 – Latvia organized by European Central Bank in cooperation with Latvijas Banka. Three contemporary Latvian photographers, Arnis Bal?us, Reinis Hofmanis and Alnis Stakle, are trying to capture the sights of untamed and constructed landscapes, suburbs, cities and collective rituals to characterize their home country. The relationship between natural and cultural objects evokes a special feeling for each location revealed in the photography. This interaction creates contradicting icons presenting Latvia from different angle than the one put forward by the tourism industry. Arnis Bal?us in Latvian Notes is focused on everyday life in Latvia by photographing public space and collective rituals in suburbs and provincial towns; Reinis Hofmanis in series Sales and Private examine signs in landscape while Alnis Stakle in Not Even Something discover unexplored, unmapped path and roads at nighttime when less – populated areas become the most dangerous. The photographers believe that landscape is like a language reflecting the soul of Latvia, deep history of place and society and Latvian perception of themselves in the global context. Artglass™ by GroGlass® is used to frame the pictures and decrease the barrier between the observer and photography. As approved by the visitors the invisible glass enrich the feeling of the place captured by camera. No annoying reflections to disturb the visit of exhibition. Artglass™ by Groglass® provides the truest enjoyment of the place behind the glass.
